Centerpiece Ideas

Hey, I need some help. We are looking for cheap ($10 table) centerpieces for our Grad Studies banquet this summer! I am full of ideas, but they always end up costing too much...Any ideas? I would apprecaite any thoughts or sugestions! Shannon, you should be a pro at this! Thanks for your help!

I'm afraid I didn't have much creative juices to lend to Grad Studies. Tracy and Keara were better in those areas! What's your theme this year?

I'm a big fan of candles. How about something with little glass votives? You can usually get those pretty cheap from a big craft store. Or how about some glass jars with flowers? And white tablecloths? I'm super simple when it comes to decorating so I don't have any exotic ideas for you. Let us know what you end up doing.

Kelli - tell us the theme! That will get the creative juices flowing! :-)

Everyone: the class is called The Theology and Application of Biblical Holiness. I don't really have a theme for the banquet. I haven't purchased anything as of yet, so I am open to anything! I want it to look summery, but not too frilly since 95% of the attendees are gentleman. Last summer we did green table clothes with yellow napkins and vases in the center with various colors of gerbera daisies! It looked really nice! Anyways, thanks for any suggestions!

What about floating candles? Wal Mart usually has shallow dishes in their craft section, and you can make those look pretty festive if you add those colored glass things to the bottom (under water or outside) or put brightly colored other stuff around on the tables.

Kelli,
I remember you from NBBC. I think you were there my last 1 or 2 years. Anyways, I came across your blog a little while ago.
My suggestion is to use books. My husband is in seminary & loves loves loves books! You could arrange 3 stacks of 2-3 books each into a triangle & use a glass holder for a small ivy bush to overflow on top of the stack. Old theological books would look nice. They’re a little manlier than flowers. Then maybe add 3-4 small glass votive holders to surround the books. At least the books would be free from the library!
There’s always a nautical theme – lighthouses, boats, ocean/shore-type decorations that are pretty masculine.
Hopefully this will help get your creative juices flowing. Good luck.
